Building up your List and Client Database

Many friends asking me, how did I send out rich graphical email with the recipient’s name greeting in the email? Am I sending out email one by one to them?
For example
“Dear Andy,”
In order to send out personalized greeting and email address to the recipients, I need to use a newsletter software to achieve it, the system itself will generate personalized recipient name and email address to each email going to send out.
Many years ago, I used a php newsletter software and install it in my client website, it take a lot of implementation efforts, it is not cheap too. Beside there’s always many restriction from the web hosting company to restrict a certain amount of emails being send out.
If you are not “careful” enough, your email would probally mark as SPAM if you are sending large volume of emails out.
Right now, things are getting easier, there are many 3rd party hosted newsletter service provider around, that’s mean, you don;t need to host the software in your web site, and they do everything for you.
You may ask, isn’t it good enough to use gmail or yahoo to send them email? Then you may ask yourself, are you going to send to them one by one or “BCC” them? What if your email list growing bigger? and what if your emails categorized as Spam by recipeint email client and their web server.
So, if you have more then 30 customer emails in your records, and would like to keep contact with them, I suggest you to use a mailing list system, instead of sending out one by one to them.
Personally I like to use Mailchimps, for me or for my client, to help to keep track and manage the subscriber list.
Who should use a Mailing List?
- Practitioner who have a blog and website would like to keep in touch with his prospect or clients.
- New age store, Holistic Centre, Yoga centre would like to send update and workshop information to their list.
Why Mailchimp?
- It is free! Yes free for everyone, the free account stored up to 500 subscriber. So if you are healer, practitioners, use their services to send announcement, latest news, workshop update, testimonials to your subscriber, It’s free (yes it’s free!)
- If your list are between 501-2500 subscriber, you will need to pay USD30 / month. But not many individual practitioners have that large contact group, unless you are the owner of new age store, holistic centre etc, if you do, congratulate and it is worthwhile to invest that amount of money to keep in contact with your subscribers.
- If you have more than 501 subscribers and do not want to tie up with their monthly plan, you may opt for the pay as you go plan too.
- Mailchimps have a set of pre-build email template, so you save a lot of time on designing the emails, just fill up the template and click send.
- There are many features to host your mailing list with Mailchimps, you may want to read the full feature list in their website.
